Located just a few hours drive from the town of Arusha, Tarangire is a popular stop for people travelling through the northern safari circuit on their way to Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. The park extends into two game controlled areas and the wildlife is allowed to move freely
throughout.
East Africa has 1.5-2.5 million Lesser Flamingos, representing threequarters of the world population and most of them are hatched at Lake Natron. Food is plentiful, nesting sites abound and above all, the lake is isolated and undisturbed.
The lake and its ecosystem provides a source of livelihoods to the local communities..
High levels of
evaporation have left behind natron (sodium carbonate decahydrate) and trona (sodium sesquicarbonate dihydrate). The alkalinity of the lake can reach a pH of greater than 12. The surrounding bedrock is composed of alkaline, sodium-dominated trachyte lavas that were laid down during the Pleistocene period. The lavas have significant amounts of carbonate but very low calcium and magnesium levels. This has allowed the lake to concentrate into a caustic alkaline brine.
Walks around the lake and to the streams and waterfalls along the nearby escarpment make for a fantastic adventure off the beaten track. There are a number of campgrounds near the lake, which is also the base for climbing 01 Doinyo Lengai.
ARRIVAL IN TANZANIA
Once you have arrived
safely at Kilimanjaro airport you will be met by one of our friendly driver who will transfer you at Hotel in Arusha. Should you arrive early you can explore the small Arusha Town, which is only a short taxi ride away, or you can just relax at the lodge and get ready for the days ahead. You will also meet with one of our operations staff and Guide who will explain everything you need to know regarding your safari.
ARUSH - LAKE MANYARA
NATIONAL PARK
07:30hrs Depart
Moshi or Arusha by Safari
Jeep to Manyara National
Park. The distance from Moshi is 210kms whlie from Arusha is 130kms.
10:OOhrs Arrive at the park and proceed on a Game drive. Animals expected to be seen include: Elephants, Dik Dik, Leopards, zebra, giraffe, ostritch and different kind of birds. 13:OOhrs At lunch time you will stop at a nice picnic site and enjoy an amazing lunch. Thereafter, you will proceed on a game drive.
16:00hrs You will depart the National park and proceed to Arusha town.
18:OOhrs You will arrive at Arusha town thereafter, transfer to your hotel/residence.
